Which Career Is Better, a Highly Skilled Programmer or Professional Hacker?

After doing some research, I would like to become a professional hacker, because it sounds like a fun high paying career because it's essentially a highly skilled programmer.

I've worked with people for many years (sales / marketing) and I've worked online from home since 2004.

My household can change dynamically with two teenagers and a partially disabled husband.

I'm wondering if you can recommend a self-paced course that would provide a certificate of completion.

There are lots of high-paying careers in the Information Technology (IT) Industry, including jobs that can pay up-to six figures ($100k+) for highly skilled & experienced professionals!

In this article, I will discuss the career opportunities for two (2) well-paying technology professions for professional software developers and ethical / professional hackers.

How do the first year salaries compare?

While a beginner computer programmer may earn anywhere from $40k to $70k in the first year, a professional / ethical hacker may earn from $50k to $100k in their first year.

What does the job market look like?

The job market for both professional programmers and ethical hackers is extremely good!

However, while there is a demand for skilled ethical hackers, there is an even greater demand for corporate / professional programmers.

What are the entry level requirements?

The entry level requirements for a professional programming career typically inlcudes a knowledge of one popular server-side programming language (CSharp / Java / PHP) and one relational database platform (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and one operating system (Windows, Unix or Linux).

However, the entry level requirements for a professional hackers / ethical hackers career is more challenging and includes hardware knowledge (A+ Certification), Network skills (CCNA certification), security certifications (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification, knowledge of Unix / Linux operating systems, knowledge of lower-level programming languages like C/C++, Java, etc.

So, while profesional hackers / ethical hackers may earn more than professional  / corporate programmers, they have to master more pogramming / technical skills and have a lower number of job postmngs requiring their skills.
